چکیده

Soil arthropods are an essential part of ecosystem contributing significantly to maintaining biodiversity and functioning. The present study was conducted investigate the diversity abundance soil in selected habitats Jahangirnagar University campus, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Sampling at three different habitats, viz., woodland (W), grassland with herbs (GH), (WH), from February 2022 July using pitfall traps. A total 9054 belonging 19 orders Collembola, Diplura, Thysanoptera, Odonata, Orthoptera, Hemiptera, Blattodea, Coleoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera, Isoptera, Lepidoptera, Acari, Araneae, Mesostigmata, Polydesmida, Isopoda, Scolopendrellida Scolopendromorpha were collected. most abundant order Collembola (64.49%) followed by Diptera (12.89%), Hymenoptera (9.82%), Orthoptera (4.73%), Araneae (2.85%) Coleoptera (1.38%), least Isoptera (0.17%), (0.13%), Thysanoptera (0.10%), Acai (0.09%), Diplura (0.08%). Lepidoptera Isopoda represented 0.76%, 0.64%, 0.34% 0.27% captured individuals, respectively. greatest number individuals collected habitat-W (49.78%) habitat-GH (28.32%) habitat-WH (21.90%). collembolans exhibited highest all habitats. Both Shannon-Weiner index (H') Pielou’s evenness index. (J') showed score (H'=1.49, J'=0.5), whereas (H'=1.04, (J'=0.36). Information revealed this is expected contribute developing baseline data arthropod fauna Jahangirnagr campus. More importantly, information would help us monitor any change soil-dwelling

Heavy Metals in Wetland Soil of Greater Dhaka District, Bangladesh

The current paper determines heavy metals in sediments of six freshwater wetlands of greater Dhaka district from November 1999 to September 2000. The sampling took place in summer, rainy season, and winter, wherein for each season five soil samples were collected from the wetland at a depth of 0 – 15 cm. To assess the status of heavy metal pollution in the sediments, geo-accumulation factor (Ig...

Abundance and Diversity of Soil Arthropods in the Olive Grove Ecosystem

Arthropods are part of important functional groups in soil food webs. Recognizing these arthropods and understanding their function in the ecosystem as well as when they are active is essential to understanding their roles. In the present work, the abundance and diversity of soil arthropods is examined in olive groves in the northeast region of Portugal during the spring. Five classes of arthro...

Impact of Grassland Reseeding, Herbicide Spraying and Ploughing on Diversity and Abundance of Soil Arthropods

In order to determine the interactive effect of reseeding, herbicide spraying and ploughing on soil fauna communities, we conducted a grassland reseeding experiment combined with pre-reseed management to examine how with the whole reseeding process affects soil faunal composition. Sampling occasions and exact treatments were as follows: (1) before chemical herbicide spray; (2) after spray but b...
